My Manifesto
Thank you visiting my election website. I am going to try and see as many of you as possible but with 2,489 homes and 80 businesses this is quite a challenge. Please feel free to contact me to discuss what you would like from your Connétable.
Prioritising Our Parish and for Connétable of St Lawrence I am seeking your vote for Connétable because I am deeply committed to safeguarding the unique qualities of St Lawrence.
If elected, I will serve as your dedicated representative within the parish and a strong, clear voice in the States Assembly, ensuring our specific needs help shape island-wide policy.“ Parish and Community First” is more than a slogan; it is the core philosophy behind my candidacy. I will NOT be seeking a ministerial role in the new assembly, I want to focus on our parish first and foremost.
My professional career spans over 36 years of service to Jersey, focusing on empowering Islanders. From helping individuals secure meaningful employment to mentoring young people and assisting local businesses through periods of change, my work has always been about progress and support.
Through leadership roles on the Employment Forum and the Skills Board, and my involvement with Highlands College, I have actively shaped the legislation and workplace strategies that impact our families. Furthermore, as a devoted Rotarian for two decades and a founder of the Island of Longevity initiative, I have consistently worked to improve the lives of those around me.For me, people are the heart of every decision.
My voluntary experience has shown me that when neighbours unite and parish leadership is proactive, the entire community thrives. St Lawrence is not merely a location on a map; it is our home. It is defined by its winding lanes, lush countryside, coastal beauty, and rich agricultural heritage. Most of all, it is defined by you.
With Jersey-born parents and grandparents who called this parish home, I have deep roots here. I share your pride in our history and your desire to protect our rural identity.
We currently face significant challenges, including rising costs of living, the need for sensitive development, and the importance of supporting both our aging population and young families. I am committed to managing parish services with financial prudence and genuine empathy.
As your Connétable, I pledge to:• Listen with intent• Communicate with total transparency• Represent every parishioner with fairness and integrity in all government chambersI believe in approachable, common-sense leadership where every voice is heard.
St Lawrence has a tradition of looking after its own while progressing with care. I would be deeply honoured to protect our heritage while building a vibrant, secure future for all. As an independent candidate, my only loyalty is to you. Together, we can ensure St Lawrence remains the parish we are all proud to call home.
My five key priorities:
4. Protecting the Rural Character of Our Parish
St Lawrence must grow thoughtfully. I will ensure that planning decisions respect our countryside, green spaces and heritage, and that infrastructure keeps pace with any development.
We have some beautiful lanes and some wonderful green spaces, but like every parish there is need to see if we have any suitable sites for affordable housing. I would like us to explore any potential brown sites in the first instance; we can only support this if we have a suitable site. Maintaining our green spaces, lanes and trees will be a priority.
5. Improving Road Safety & Managing Traffic
Speeding and increased traffic on our lanes are real concerns. I will work with relevant authorities to improve road safety and protect built up areas.
I will work closely with the Honorary Police and parishioners to identify practical safety improvements.
If elected, I will work hard every day to serve St Lawrence with integrity, openness and commitment.
3. Supporting Parishioners Through Cost-of-Living Pressures
No one in St Lawrence should feel unsupported or experience isolation or loneliness. I will ensure our parish systems remain compassionate, responsive and accessible, particularly for families and vulnerable residents.
I will explore community-led initiatives such as a “Know Your Neighbour” scheme along with community networks and signposting services to help reduce isolation.
I appreciate running a business can have its challenges, especially now, so it would be good to understand them and see if there was anything the parish could do to support them.
2. Open, Approachable & Transparent Leadership
You deserve a Connétable who listens. I will prioritise clear communication, accessibility and regular engagement so parishioners feel informed and heard.
Together, these priorities reflect my commitment to protecting what makes St Lawrence special while ensuring our parish remains strong and connected.
Strong communication is critical we need to make use of all communication channels so that can reach as many residents as possible, this will take time communication is a constant not an as and when.
1. Strengthening Community Connections
From young families to older parishioners, we must foster a strong sense of belonging. I will encourage community initiatives, tackle isolation, and ensure the parish hall remains at the heart of parish life. Inclusivity is key.
I will begin by meeting with community organisations, youth groups and volunteers to understand how the parish can support their work effectively.
Having our own community group would be ideal, run by volunteers to assist with hospital visits, a bit of shopping or picking up prescriptions. Or simply a little drive around to get out of the house. This will only work with strong communication.
